High-strength (red) threadlocker for applications demanding maximum hold on 6–22 mm fasteners. Zollex red threadlockers cure in 24 hours and are available in both liquid and semi-solid stick forms. Disassembly may require localized heating above 260°C and removal while still warm.
Why Threadlockers Are Superior to Traditional Methods
Mechanical fasteners like split ring washers, nylon-insert nuts, and serrated washers are commonly used in industry to prevent fasteners from loosening. However, these methods don’t truly “lock” threads and often fail to maintain proper clamp load. In fact, they provide only about 15% metal-to-metal contact, leaving air gaps that make assemblies vulnerable to loosening due to vibration, thermal cycling, bending, or improper torque.
Zollex threadlockers offer a more reliable and long-term solution. When applied between mating threads, these liquid adhesives cure to form a strong bond that secures nuts, bolts, and fasteners in place. They eliminate gaps and ensure the assembly retains proper clamp load over time. Zollex threadlockers are available in both low and high strength formulas to match your application needs.
THE BEST BECAUSE
✔ Lock against vibration-induced loosening
– Fills 100% of the space between threads, eliminating movement and the root cause of loosening.
✔ Superior to mechanical locking devices
– Maintains clamp load better than traditional methods.
✔ Extends product life and safety
– Provides high breakaway torque and thermal resistance.
✔ Prevents galling and corrosion
– Forms a protective layer that blocks rust and prevents metal-on-metal friction welding.
✔ Allows controlled disassembly
– Low-strength variants can be removed with standard tools.
✔ Reduces inventory complexity
– One threadlocker works across many fastener sizes.
✔ Saves cost
– Lower per-unit cost compared to most mechanical locks.
✔ Resists high temperatures
– Most Zollex threadlockers withstand up to 300°F (≈150°C).
✔ Enhances machine reliability
– Minimizes downtime and ensures long-term assembly stability.
APPLICATION:
-
Surface Preparation:
Ensure that all parts are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, dirt, and corrosion. Use a suitable degreaser or solvent if necessary. -
Product Application:
Shake the bottle well before use. Apply a small amount of threadlocker to the threads of the male fastener, filling approximately one full thread turn. For blind holes, apply product into the female threads. For through bolts, apply to both the bolt and nut for maximum hold. -
Assembly:
Assemble parts as required and tighten to the recommended torque specification. The adhesive will begin curing upon contact with metal and in the absence of air (anaerobic conditions). -
Curing Time:
Handling strength is typically achieved within 20–30 minutes. Full cure takes approximately 24 hours at room temperature. For faster curing, apply mild heat (not exceeding 120°C unless disassembly is intended). -
Disassembly (if needed):
For red (high-strength) threadlockers, disassembly may require localized heating above 260°C (500°F). Heat the fastener for several minutes, then remove while still warm using appropriate tools.
